Bodhi suspension training plank workout

There’s no shortage of core training exercises, but when I’m looking for a challenge, I always come back to planks, because of their functionality + versatility.
Beyond building core strength, they also work the upper and lower body (yeah multitasking!) and they’re also the foundation of harder bodyweight exercises like push-ups, mountain climbers and burpees, so if you do planks well, then you’ll get the most out of those other exercises with a reduced risk of injury from poor alignment.
However, despite all the benefits, I’ll often hear trainers and fitness enthusiasts say they’re bored with planks or I’ll see folks trying to increase the challenge by just holding their plank…well…forever.
Personally, I like something a little more dynamic than holding a static position for minutes on end, which is one of the reasons why I love doing planks on suspension trainers like the TRX or the Bodhi.
It’s a great way to improve spinal stabilization and core strength and using the ropes make the workout feel like play, even though you’re working really hard.
This is a more advanced workout, but you can always start with the side plank prep and holding the front planks and hovers on your knees.
If you don’t have a suspension trainer, take a look around your gym, since most of them have one and give it a try the next time you’re in need of a little core inspiration!
